【摘要】:1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthreealternativelaboratorymethodsfordeterminingthemagnitudeofswellorsettlementofrelativelyundisturbedorcompactedcohesivesoil.Note18212;RefertoSection5todeterminethebestmethodforaparticularapplication.1.2Thetestmethodscanbeusedtodetermine(a)themagnitudeofswellorsettlementunderknownvertical(axial)pressure,or(b)themagnitudeofverticalpressureneededtomaintainnovolumechangeoflaterallyconstrained,axiallyloadedspecimens.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsareapproximate.1.4AllobservedandcalculatedvaluesshallconformtotheguidelinesforsignificantdigitsandroundingestablishedinPracticeD6026.1.4.1Themethodusedtospecifyhowdataarecollected,calculated,orrecordedinthisstandardisnotdirectlyrelatedtotheaccuracytowhichthedatacanbeappliedindesignorotheruses,orboth.Howoneappliestheresultsobtainedusingthisstandardisbeyonditsscope.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
